Local Chapters
The Southmont High School Young Democrats are proud to sponsor the Hoosier Healthcare Hike on Saturday, June 6th. The Young Democrats, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Democratic Club and the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee will be meeting at 9:30 AM and will march along Highway 231 in support of HR 676, a single payer alternative for healthcare reform. The march will begin at the Southside McDonalds and make a four mile loop through downtown Crawfordsville. Following the march, the Young Democrats will hold a press conference starting at approximately 11:00 AM in the parking lot of the Crawfordsville Square Shopping Center. Don't forget about the GIYD Pre-Special Session Cookout Sunday, June 7 - 2 p.m. at the home of Megan Miller (5863 Kingsley Drive, Indianapolis, 46220). Hot Dogs, hamburgers and beverages (and veggie options) on GIYD! Feel free to bring other spirits or meat. Extra side dishes are always welcome! The Kokomo/Howard County Young Democrats will be hosting a roundtable discussion on the Employee Free Choice Act on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. The event will be from 6:00-7:30pm at UAW Local 685 at 929 East Hoffer Street in Kokomo. Panelists Include: Jerry Santen, United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 615 Organizer and Allison Luthe, MSW Community Organizer, Central Indiana Jobs with Justice, with other panelists TBA. Attendees will have a chance to hear about EFCA and take action to contact their Congressional representatives after the panel.
