Indiana Young Democrats Statement on Passage of Historic Health Care Reform and Educational Affordability Bills

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of both H.R. 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and H.R. 4872, the Health Care & Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010, marks a watershed moment in American history. These bills not only provide for sorely needed reform of our health care system, but also make the largest investments in college aid in U.S. history.

IYD Goes to Chicago 2009

Want more information about going to the YDA National Convention in Chicago? You've come to the right place. Welcome to the online home for IYD's delegation to the National Convention. For official information about the convention, including a schedule, online registration and information on Chicago, be sure to visit the official YDA 2009 website at ydachicago2009.com. Keep watching both this and the YDA 2009 websites for updates as convention approaches. Can you help us send delegates to represent Indiana at the National Convention? Click the button below:

***IMPORTANT: Delegate Confirmation*** If you wish to be a delegate for the National Convention and you haven't yet confirmed your interest, please do so by clicking here. Any questions? Drop us a line at indianayoungdemocrats(at)gmail(dot)com.

Frequently Asked Questions Q: Who is eligible to be a delegate? A: If you were born on or after August 9, 1973, you can be a delegate to the convention. YDA rules state "Young Democrats" as those 35 and under.
Q: I'm not able to make it for all four days. Can I still be a delegate? A: YES! If you're able to make it for Friday and Saturday, you can still be a delegate.
Q: What happens if I'm not selected to be a delegate? A: We'll have a waiting list of those who are not selected to be delegates, however, that doesn't stop you from attending the convention! There will be useful trainings, great speakers and networking opportunities, so even if you're not a delegate, GO!
Q: How much does it cost to be a delegate? A: With the convention in our backyard, it'll be the cheapest convention ever for Indiana YDs. Four nights hotel (~$175/quad occupancy) plus registration and banquet will be $300! The state organization is working to raise money with the intention of covering hotel and registration costs for the entire delegation. However, with the costs so low, it's EASY to raise money to cover your share. Use the Personal Fundraising Packet to help track pledges and share information about the Convention with friends, family and colleagues.

Young people turned Indiana blue for President Obama in 2008 -- now let's celebrate in his old neighborhood and show other YDs from around the country that IYD means business. See you in Chicago!
In solidarity, Shaunica Pridgen President, Indiana Young Democrats

P.S. You MUST confirm your interest in being a delegate by Wednesday, July 29th to be included in our official list. Confirm online at http://tinyurl.com/iyddelegateconfirm right now!
